Counted, pitch by pitch.

Most starters come out near 100 pitches, so a season leader lands a little above 3,000. The median pitcher with 100 innings threw about 2,500 in 2025.

What counts as a good P?

Half of the 324 qualified MLB players in 2026 were at or below 1,426. Clearing 2,765 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
