Pitches Per Start P/S
P/S stands for pitches per start in baseball. The pitch count a starter averages before he comes out.
How P/S is calculated
P/S = pitches ÷ games started
The 100-pitch start is now the exception: among pitchers with 15 starts and 100 innings in 2025 the median was 88.5, and nobody averaged 100.
What counts as a good P/S?
Half of the 183 qualified MLB players in 2026 were at or below 86.7. Clearing 93.2 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
