AskScores MCP server
https://www.askscores.com/mcp is a free Model Context Protocol server. Add it to Claude, Cursor or VS Code, and your assistant can look up NBA, WNBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and college football stats in our database and cite the page each number came from. No key, no sign-up.
One call, start to finish
The server has one tool, ask, which takes a question in plain English. This request was sent on October 11, 2026:
curl -s https://www.askscores.com/mcp \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call",
"params":{"name":"ask","arguments":{"question":"aaron judge vs lefties 2025"}}}'The reply arrives as result.content[0].text:
Aaron Judge hit .341 with 16 home runs and a 1.280 OPS in 161 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers in 2025; against right-handers, .328 with 37 home runs and a 1.104 OPS in 518. | Season | Split | PA | AB | H | HR | RBI | BB | SO | AVG | OBP | SLG | OPS | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 2025 | vs LHP | 161 | 123 | 42 | 16 | 30 | 37 | 37 | .341 | .491 | .789 | 1.280 | | 2025 | vs RHP | 518 | 418 | 137 | 37 | 84 | 87 | 123 | .328 | .446 | .658 | 1.104 | Regular season, from MLB's own splits (by the hand of the pitcher). Every reply is built the same way: the answer sentence, any facts or caveats that go with it, the table it was read from (up to 25 rows), a note on what the numbers cover, and a link to the page on askscores.com. The assistant can quote the sentence and hand you the link, and every figure can be checked there.
The figures are query results from our own copy of the stats. No language model writes them. How AskScores works covers where the data comes from, when it updates and the gaps we know about.

What to ask
One question per call, typed the way you would type it into a search box. Each of these got an answer through the tool; the link is the page it cited.
- A season total: caitlin clark assists 2025
- A split: aaron judge vs lefties 2025
- A league leader: nba rebounds leaders 2024-25
- Playoff career: jayson tatum career playoff points
- Head-to-head: josh allen vs patrick mahomes
- Recent games: lebron james last 5 games
- Hockey: connor mcdavid points 2024-25
- College football: travis hunter receiving yards 2024
When a question cannot be read, the tool returns isError: true and a sentence saying what it is missing, usually a player, team or stat it recognizes. Reword the question and ask again.
Limits
- Questions run from 2 to 200 characters. The tool only reads; it cannot change anything.
- The server works out two answers at a time across all users. When both slots are taken, the tool returns
isError: truewith “AskScores is busy right now; try again in a few seconds.” Too many requests from one address in a short time get HTTP 429. - The full data update runs every day at 09:00 UTC, and scores refresh every 20 minutes. A game in progress may not be in the answer yet.
- The transport is stateless Streamable HTTP with JSON responses only: there is no event stream, and a GET gets 405. Protocol versions 2025-06-18, 2025-03-26 and 2024-11-05 are accepted. No authentication.
