Total BasesTB

TB stands for total bases in baseball. Every base a hitter reached on his hits: one for a single, two for a double, three for a triple, four for a home run.

How TB is calculated

TB = H + 2B + 2 × 3B + 3 × HR

Total bases divided by at-bats is slugging percentage. Walks and hit-by-pitches earn no total bases, which is the gap OPS closes by adding OBP.

What counts as a good TB?

Half of the 240 qualified MLB players in 2026 were at or below 188.5. Clearing 263.2 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
