Intentional WalksIBB
IBB stands for intentional walks in baseball. Walks the defense gave on purpose, usually to face a weaker hitter or set up a force play.
How IBB is calculated
Counted. Included in BB. Since 2017 the manager signals it and no pitches are thrown.
The count is a measure of fear: Barry Bonds drew 120 in 2004, a single-season record.
What counts as a good IBB?
Half of the 151 qualified MLB players in 2026 were at or below 2. Clearing 6 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
