XBH = 2B + 3B + HR

A season with 80 or more extra-base hits is rare territory; the leaders are nearly always the league’s best sluggers, since home runs make up the largest share.

What counts as a good XBH?

Half of the 240 qualified MLB players in 2026 were at or below 39. Clearing 59 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
