Runs CreatedRC

RC stands for runs created in baseball. Bill James’s estimate of how many runs a hitter’s own batting produced for his team.

How RC is calculated

RC = (H + BB) × TB ÷ (AB + BB), in its basic form

It was built to be checked against the scoreboard: add up a team’s runs created and the total lands within a few percent of the runs it actually scored.

What counts as a good RC?

Half of the 241 qualified MLB players in 2026 were at or below 62.9. Clearing 93.3 put a season in the top tenth of the league.

By position, the median was 71.4 for 1B, 66.3 for RF, 65.3 for DH, 64.3 for 3B, 62.8 for SS and 62.6 for LF.
