How BB/PA is calculated

BB/PA = BB ÷ PA

It stabilises faster than almost any other batting number — around 120 plate appearances — so it says something real about a hitter long before his average does.

Half of the 262 qualified MLB players in 2026 were at or below .091. Clearing .128 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
