SB% stands for stolen base percentage in baseball. The share of a runner’s steal attempts that succeeded.

How SB% is calculated

SB% = SB ÷ (SB + CS)

Around 75% has long been the break-even rate: below it, the outs from failed steals cost more runs than the extra bases gain. Since the 2023 rules on pickoffs and larger bases, league-wide success has run near 80%.

What counts as a good SB%?

Half of the 113 qualified MLB players in 2026 were at or below .800. Clearing .918 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
