Free Throw %FT%
FT% stands for free throw percentage in basketball. The share of free throws made — the one shot in basketball with no defense on it.
How FT% is calculated
FT% = FTM ÷ FTA × 100

Free throw percentage is the most stable skill in the box score, which is why it is the best single predictor of whether a young player’s jump shot will translate.
What counts as a good FT%?
Half of the 175 qualified NBA players in 2025-26 were at or below 79.7. Clearing 87.7 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
