Effective Field Goal %eFG%

eFG% stands for effective field goal percentage in basketball. Field goal percentage with a made three counted as one and a half makes, since it is worth one and a half twos.

How eFG% is calculated

eFG% = (FGM + 0.5 × 3PTM) ÷ FGA

Unlike true shooting, it ignores free throws, so a player who draws many fouls looks better on TS% than on eFG%.

What counts as a good eFG%?

Half of the 306 qualified NBA players in 2025-26 were at or below 54.5. Clearing 61.2 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
