How TB% is calculated
TB% = touchbacks ÷ punts × 100
A touchback wipes out whatever the leg gained past the goal line, so the punters with the best net averages keep this under 5%.

Half of the 26 qualified NFL players in 2026 were at or below 7.9. The best tenth were under 4.8.
