FGM stands for field goals made in football. Kicks through the uprights from the field of play, worth three points. A kicker’s table splits them by distance — 20-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50+ — because a 52-yard try and a 25-yard try are barely the same skill.
How FGM is calculated
FGM = made kicks; FG% = FGM ÷ FGA
The league makes close to 95% inside 40 yards and about 65% from 50 and out, so a kicker’s raw percentage mostly reflects where his offence stalled.
What counts as a good FGM?
Half of the 37 qualified NFL players in 2025 were at or below 25. Clearing 34.2 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
