How NET is calculated
NET = (punt yards − return yards − 20 × touchbacks) ÷ punts
Gross average (AVG) rewards outkicking the coverage; net average is what the field position actually changed by.

Half of the 33 qualified NFL players in 2025 were at or below 41.7. Clearing 44.4 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
