Passer RatingRTG

RTG stands for passer rating in football. The NFL’s single-number summary of passing, built from completion rate, yards per attempt, touchdown rate and interception rate. Also called QB rating or NFL passer rating.

How RTG is calculated

a = (CMP/ATT − .3) × 5 · b = (YDS/ATT − 3) × .25 · c = (TD/ATT) × 20 · d = 2.375 − (INT/ATT × 25). Each is clamped to 0–2.375, then RTG = (a + b + c + d) ÷ 6 × 100.

The scale runs from 0 to 158.3, and a perfect 158.3 needs all four components maxed at once. Sacks, scrambles and down-and-distance are nowhere in the formula, which is why ESPN’s QBR exists alongside it.
