CMP% stands for completion percentage in football. The share of a quarterback’s passes that were caught.
How CMP% is calculated
CMP% = CMP ÷ ATT × 100

A two-yard checkdown counts the same as a 40-yard strike, which is why the league average has climbed from just over 50% in the 1970s to about 65% today as offenses moved to short passing.
What counts as a good CMP%?
Half of the 36 qualified NFL players in 2025 were at or below 64.8. Clearing 68.7 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
