First DownsFD
FD stands for first downs in football. Plays on which the player’s run gained a new set of downs, including runs for a touchdown.
How FD is calculated
Counted, in the table’s own category: rushing first downs on the rushing table, receiving first downs on the receiving table.
First downs per carry separates a back who moves the chains from one whose yards come on a few long runs.
What counts as a good FD?
Half of the 234 qualified NFL players in 2025 were at or below 6. Clearing 45 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
