What does P% mean in hockey standings?
P% is points percentage: the share of the points on offer that a club has taken. With two points available each game, it is points divided by twice the games played.
How it is worked out
P% = PTS ÷ (2 × GP)
It is how clubs with different numbers of games played are compared: early in a season 10 points from 6 games (.833) is a better start than 11 from 8 (.688). The NHL ranked its clubs by it when the 2019-20 season stopped in March.
