What do PF and PA mean in the standings?

PF is what a club has scored, PA what it has given up: points in the NFL, runs (RS and RA) in baseball, points per game (PPG and OPP) in the NBA table.

How it is worked out

Totals over the season, except the NBA columns, which are per game.

The gap between them predicts the rest of a season better than the record does: a club winning close games sits above its point difference, and usually comes back to it.

  • Most PF in the NFL this season: the Buffalo Bills at 77. Fewest conceded: the New England Patriots at 16. NFL standings
  • Most PPG in the NBA this season: the Denver Nuggets at 122.1. Fewest conceded: the Boston Celtics at 107.2. NBA standings
  • Most RS in the MLB this season: the Chicago Cubs at 835. Fewest conceded: the New York Yankees at 576. MLB standings
