Save % SV%
SV% stands for save percentage in hockey. The share of shots on goal a goalie stopped. Other sites write it SVPCT.
How SV% is calculated
SV% = saves ÷ shots against
Written as a decimal: .915 means 915 of every 1,000 shots were stopped. Around .905 is the modern league average, and each .010 is roughly a goal every three games.
What counts as a good SV%?
Half of the 64 qualified NHL players in 2025-26 were at or below .895. Clearing .910 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
