PointsPTS
PTS stands for points in basketball. Every point a player scores: two for a made shot inside the arc, three from beyond it, one per free throw.
How PTS is calculated
PTS = 2 × (FGM − 3PTM) + 3 × 3PTM + FTM
Luka Doncic, 2025-26, per game: 2 × (10.8 − 4.0) + 3 × 4.0 + 7.9 = 33.5
Points per game is the number quoted in a scoring title, but it rewards playing time as much as efficiency — a 30-minute starter and a 36-minute starter are not compared on equal ground.
What counts as a good PTS?
Half of the 424 qualified NBA players in 2025-26 were at or below 9.2 per game. Clearing 20.1 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
