Goals G
G stands for goals in hockey. Pucks a player put into the other team’s net, credited to the last attacking player to touch it.
How G is calculated
Counted by the official scorer. A goal into a team’s own net is credited to the opponent who last touched the puck.
Wayne Gretzky holds the single-season record, 92 goals in 1981-82; Alex Ovechkin passed his career mark of 894 in April 2025.
What counts as a good G?
Half of the 648 qualified NHL players in 2025-26 were at or below 9. Clearing 26 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
