Extra PointsPAT
PAT stands for extra points in football. Kicks made after a touchdown, each worth one point — the point after touchdown, or PAT.
How PAT is calculated
Counted. On a kicker’s table the attempts are XPA and the makes XPM.
Since 2015 the kick is snapped from the 15-yard line, a 33-yard try; the league-wide make rate fell from about 99% to the mid-90s.
What counts as a good PAT?
Half of the 37 qualified NFL players in 2025 were at or below 32. Clearing 47.4 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
