Technical FoulsTECH
TECH stands for technical fouls in basketball. Fouls called for conduct rather than contact: arguing with officials, taunting, hanging on the rim.
How TECH is calculated
Counted. Each gives the opponent one free throw and possession stays as it was.
A player’s 16th technical of a regular season brings a one-game suspension, and every second one after that another. Two in one game mean an ejection.
What counts as a good TECH?
Half of the 258 qualified NBA players in 2025-26 were at or below 2. The tenth with the most were above 6.3, which is where the number stops being a good sign.
