PF stands for personal fouls in basketball. Illegal contact charged to a player; six in one game and he is out of it.
How PF is calculated
Counted. Technical and flagrant fouls are tracked separately from personal fouls.
Foul trouble is a minutes problem before it is a defense problem: a starter with three fouls in the first half usually sits, and the rest of the rotation absorbs it.
What counts as a good PF?
Half of the 424 qualified NBA players in 2025-26 were at or below 1.8 per game. The tenth with the most were above 2.6, which is where the number stops being a good sign.
