MLB injury report
209 MLB players are on a club injury report: 102 60-day il, 50 15-day il, 33 10-day il. The status is the club's own word, filed with the league, and the date is when it expects him back.
What the statuses mean
- 60-Day IL
- The long-term injured list. It also clears the player from the 40-man roster, which is why clubs reach for it when they need the space.
- 15-Day IL
- The pitchers’ injured list. A pitcher placed on it sits a minimum of fifteen days.
- 10-Day IL
- The injured list for a position player: a minimum of ten days off the active roster, with his place taken by a call-up.
- 7-Day IL
- The concussion list. Seven days is the minimum, and a player only leaves it after clearing the league’s protocol.
- Out
- Ruled out of the next game. The club has already decided; nothing in the warm-up changes it.
- Suspension
- Not an injury at all: the player is barred by the league or the club, and appears on the same report because he is unavailable.
- Day-To-Day
- Hurt enough to be reported, not hurt enough for a timetable. The club will decide each day on how the player wakes up.
