What does Q mean in football?
Q is questionable on an NFL injury report. The club has told the league a player is hurt and may not play. It is the middle rung of the three-tag report every NFL team files on the Friday before a Sunday game.
Will he play?
A coin flip on paper, and better than one in practice: questionable players usually suit up, and the tag is often held over a player the club does not want to commit on.
The NFL cut the old four-tag report (probable, questionable, doubtful, out) to three in 2016, folding probable into questionable — which is why the tag covers everything from a sore ankle to a player who will not travel.
