What does IR mean in football?
IR is injured reserve on an NFL injury report. A roster list for a player too hurt to play for a stretch. Moving him there opens his place on the active roster.
Will he play?
Not for at least four games. A club may bring a set number of players back from injured reserve in a season; the rest are done until the next one.
