Rebounds REB

REB stands for rebounds in basketball. Possessions won by grabbing the ball after a missed shot, at either end of the floor. Also called boards. Other sites write it TRB.

How REB is calculated

REB = OR + DR

Roughly three quarters of all rebounds are defensive: a miss usually lands on the defense’s side of the rim.

What counts as a good REB?

Half of the 452 qualified NBA players in 2025-26 were at or below 3.4 per game. Clearing 6.9 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
