Plus/Minus +/-
+/- stands for plus/minus in basketball. The team’s points minus its opponents’ points while the player was on the floor, added up over the season.
How +/- is calculated
+/- = team points − opponent points, counted only with the player on the court.
It measures the lineups a player shared, not the player alone: a reserve who plays beside the starters of a great team piles up a big number. Adjusted plus-minus models were built to pull him apart from his teammates.
What counts as a good +/-?
Half of the 424 qualified NBA players in 2025-26 were at or below -6.5. Clearing 301.5 put a season in the top tenth of the league.
